Art and culture at every turn

From the hotel in the direction of the city center you walk left past the City Hall, right past the Parliament and come directly to the Volksgarten, which is famous for its incomparable rose splendor in the summer. When you stand in front of the Hofburg on Heldenplatz, you will see the monument to Empress Maria Theresa flanked by two large museums. Walk through the Hofburg gate and you have a choice: Treasury, Spanish Riding School - the oldest riding school in the world - or maybe you'd rather go to Café Demel?

Continue along Kohlmarkt and Graben, the luxury shopping mile in Vienna, and you'll come directly to Stephansplatz with its world-famous cathedral. Walk a few steps further and you will discover ancient, small alleys. A feeling as if you were immediately transported back a few centuries with a leap in time.

Artist Scene Spittelberg

What was a red-light district in the Middle Ages has been transformed into a hip place-to-be in modern times. It is only a few minutes' walk from the hotel to Spittelberg, where a remarkable artist scene has established itself for the finest handicrafts. Here, one small store follows the next, and in between there are always pubs and restaurants that also offer Viennese cuisine, but above all delicacies from all over the world.
Across the Naschmarkt in the footsteps of Harry Lime

You simply have to have seen the Naschmarkt. The food and specialty market, which is over 500 meters long, is less than 10 minutes away from the hotel. From local specialties to exotic rarities. The great variety of offerings, the different scents and smells - a stroll through the Naschmarkt is an experience for all the senses.

And on Saturdays, a flea market also takes place here. In the immediate vicinity, you can follow in Harry Lime's footsteps. The Third Man Tour takes you into Vienna's "underworld." Discover Vienna's post-war history and the fascination of its sewers.

THE VIENNA COFFEE HOUSE - A PLACE OF CULTURE

Melange, Fiaker, Kleiner Schwarzer, Kapuziner, Einspänner, Verlängerter - the variety of specialties is great. And so is the love of coffee. The coffeehouse culture in Vienna has a long tradition. As Alfred Polgar once said, "The coffeehouse is a place for people who want to be alone, but need company to do so." In fact, the coffeehouse was considered the center of the urban "intelligentsia" at the latest during the Biedermeier period. And around the turn of the century, the cafés Herrenhof, Griensteidl and Central were the centers of intellectual Vienna.

You should especially visit the legendary Literatencafé in Palais Ferstel. If only for the exceptionally good homemade pastries. In the evening, a piano player provides a particularly atmospheric ambience. Café Central is over 140 years old. It has lost none of its original fascination. On the contrary, its long history can be felt everywhere. You almost think you see Sigmund Freud, who was a regular guest here all his life.

Culinary

Viennese cuisine is known beyond its borders. First and foremost, of course, for its classics - be it the Wiener Schnitzel (the original is made with veal, by the way), the Tafelspitz, the apple strudel or the Kaiserschmarrn for dessert. You should definitely visit one of the classic Viennese inns. Many of them have charming gardens in the summer. Or you can visit one of the fine dining locations, such as the Steirereck in the Stadtpark, the Konstantin Filippou restaurant or the first Austrian 3-Michelin-star chef Juan Amador. Not to forget: the Viennese wine. A specific feature of our city that high quality wine is produced here within the city limits. Our tip: definitely try the "Gemischter Satz"!
